What I Write About

Mind, Body and—Squirrel!
I do a lot of self-reflection through my writing. It can range from dealing with how ADHD and PTSD affects me, to any conundrums I am having within my relationships of my inner circle of people.
Please understand that if I do specifically name anyone it is likely that I have changed their real name unless I have been given permission to share their real one.
Story Time
All stories will be written by me and are fictional that were inspired by my real world (The Second Trail to be released on [insert date]). Occasionally, I may share a non-fictional story (From Darkness…Into The Light to be released on [insert date]).
On the rarest occasions, I may even share a small non-spoiler snipits of my first novel called Bonded (Introduction: The Great Fall to be released [insert date]) and small portion of a completed children’s story.

Novel Accountability
In the summer of 2018 I decided to take a leap of faith, and finish and publish a novel I have been writing, merely for personal entertainment, since 2002. Since it’s [Month, Year] can you tell how well the novel writing is going?
My hope is that by sharing my progress and frustrations along this journey, that it will hold me accountable to complete my biggest and scariest project I have ever taken on.

One of my favourite walking trails is the one that leads to Tiffany Falls, Ontario. At the beginning of the trail, you cannot see the waterfall, so you must trust in the pictures and maps that are provided for you. The path to the waterfall is a well-groomed trail,…
Me? A Writer?: Part Two
Part Two In 2023, I decided it was my turn to volunteer for the 3-night Spiritual Conference where I had been a participant 4 years prior. In the months leading up to the conference, the organizers asked each of the servers to come up with a small gift to give to each…
The Elusive ADHD: Part Two

The Elusive ADHD: A 4-Part Series
*Trigger warning: There will be words used that I do not condone and are only used to emphasize the attitudes of the people towards the neurodivergent in the 1980s. Part 1: Truth or Lie In the fall of 1982, I entered the third grade which was taught by two core…
From the Darkness into the Light
Once, in a city that you do not know where, there lived a woman whose name meant, One Who Shall Rise Above. The 5’2 brunette inhaled deeply as she soaked in the light from the full moon as it created a highlighted path across the surface of Lake Ontario. The silver…

Hi, I’m Stacy!
Thank you for checking out my blog. My name is Stacy W. Nelson, and you have entered my Green Space. I giggle at that last sentence because I feel like I’m trying to convince you that I have transported you to another dimension. I love my inner geek!
One of my greatest passions is story telling. Whenever I need to clear my head, I pack a spiral notebook and a few pens to seek out a place that allows me to connect with the natural world. Living in the Greater Hamilton Area of Ontario, initially, finding green spaces was not easy; but I have since found a few favourite spots I like to go. I encourage you to read The Second Trail in my Story Time section (will be posted on October 24, 2025, which is a little parable I wrote about one of my favourite natural spots.
As a child, to quiet my undiagnosed ADHD mind (please see Mind, Body and – Squirrel!) or avoid doing my homework, I would spend hours watching wild creatures going about their day and come up with fantasy stories about saving the natural world from the evil humans that were destroying it. One of my favourite childhood creations is where I befriended a blue whale and together, we would capsize whaling ships in the Pacific Ocean.
In 2015, I was a single mom, and I was tired of reading the same children’s books 20 plus times per week. I decided to tell them one of my own tales. My daugthers ate it up. My young girls stopped wanting to read published books; they just wanted my stories.

“Stacy, you’re a writer!”
In 2018, one of my best friends and I were both single mothers, each of us with two daughters who were around the same age, took a road trip to Newfoundland. During a road trip with her family and mine, I told one of my children’s stories to all four girls. After I finished the story, my friend said to me, “Stacy, you’re a writer!” After decades of failing at numerous chosen paths, a lot of prayer and unanimous opinions of my inner circle of friends and family; I decided to take a leap of faith to complete and publish a novel I have been writing for fun for over 20 years (see Novel Accountability).
I have since remarried to a wonderful man who is in full support of my decision to write full time, however, his 3 boys and my two girls are now too old for my children’s stories. Yet, I continue to write. It is my hope that as I share my journey with you, you find support, encouragement and inspiration to find your own path.

– I am an unconventional and imperfect Christian. I believe that Jesus died on the cross to pay for the sins of everyone who believes and respects who He claimed to be.
– Jesus didn’t exclude anyone who sought him out. If you have ever been excluded or cast out because you didn’t follow the rules, you will find acceptance here.
– I’m Not a Scholar, a leader, nor a Prophet – If you find yourself being challenged by any statements I have made regarding my beliefs or experiences; I encourage you to seek out reputable religious leaders, read the bible, and pray. Everything I share is purely out of experience and not meant to convert anyone.
– I welcome questions or comments from anyone who does not identify as a Christian.
